Hi, I found TP select very easy to use (thank you) But when I tried to download into the VP7 the turnpoints appeared to be in machine language. Can you please point a computer idiot in the right direction??

Downloading BGA turnpoints into Peschges VP7 problem

Hi I am not familiar with the Peschges VP7. There are two Peschges formats supported by TpSelect. If you select Peschges VP7 format in the box then click on "Save turnpoints...", you will get a file that starts off something like this:
Code: [Select]

VP6 KOORDIN Datei Peschges Variometer GmbH
v2.0
ABERGAVENNY
51:48:35
N
003:00:35
W
93.8784000000000:0.000
ABN ABINGDON BRIDGE
51:40:07
N
001:16:46
W
81.9912000000000:0.000
ABS ABERGAVENNY SW
51:48:01
N
003:03:37
W
558.698400000000:0.000

If you select VP9 format, you will get a file that starts off something like this:
Code: [Select]

# Created on Thu, 08-Feb-2007 10:53:00 by TpSelect V2.1
# Format: Peschges VP9
#
# Wendepunkt 1
WP: 1
ABErgavenny
51:48:35N
003:00:35W
0094m
N
  0.000
# Wendepunkt 2
WP: 2
ABN Abingdon Bridge
51:40:07N
001:16:46W
0082m
N
  0.000
# Wendepunkt 3
WP: 3
ABS Abergavenny SW
51:48:01N
003:03:37W
0559m
N
  0.000

These files are in the correct format for downloading to these GPS's. I'm not sure which (if either) is the correct format for yours.

The Worldwide Soaring Turnpoint Exchange where I get the information for the formats, only has files for the VP6 and VP9, not the VP7. Perhaps you can ask in http://uras.gliderpilot.net/ for more information on this.

In any case, you should have a program with your flight computer which enables you to input files in one of these formats for subsequent downloading.

Jeff.

Hi Jeff,  Thanks for your reply. I have only just joined this syndicate and it appears we do not have any programmes to go with the Peschges VP7. we should have I understand have VP-log. However I understand we should be able to input data without it. I wish I could find someone who uses the VP7 and be able to bottom out this waypoint problem. Any leads you could give me would be gratefully received.

I mentioned http://uras.gliderpilot.net in my last post. The people on there are extremely helpful and I am sure someone would be able to advise you about the VP7. I couldn't find any useful information about it, myself, just by searching.

The Peschges website has an email contact address which you might try, too.
